History Prominent Breeder Anita Dunne was born in Hetton Le Hold, England. She had early exposure to dogs as a child with her parents Labradors and English Cockers. She met her husband Jimmy in London and they were married in 1952. In 1953 she had her first daughter and the three of them left England and moved to Michigan.
By 1961 Anita and Jimmy had a second Daughter. On a family trip to Ireland they bought a Jaguar (car) and met a Great Dane. She decided she wanted one of her own. She purchased her first dane, a Fawn male from Clausentum Kennels. Though never shown, he was a catalyst for her distinguished career.
She acquired her first dog from Southgate kennels. A fawn bitch called "Southgate Yesca" Yesca holds her honor of being the winner of the 1st Canadian National Specialty. Yesca's son, a Champion brindle male, was the winner of the 2nd Canadian National Specialty the following year! Anita has also bred Whippets, including most notably, Ch Raybar's I'm Rim, the Top Whippet Bitch two years in a row. In 1970 Anita formed Dundane Kennels with Suzanne Jedynak, a lasting and wonderful partnership/friendship that still continues today.
Anita is a licensed AKC judge for Great Danes, Whippets and Junior Showmanship
